The Huntington Independent School District is a small 4-A rural district nestled within 226 square miles of Angelina County that provides educational facilities and resources to meet the needs of more than 1732 students on five campuses. Huntington High School and Pride Alternative School have 585 students in grades nine through twelve. Huntington Middle School has 359 students in grades six through eight. Huntington Intermediate School has 268 students in grades four through five. Huntington Elementary School has 520 students in grades pre-kindergarten through three. Huntington ISD's location places it near several institutions of higher learning in the state: Stephen F. Austin State University is located 30 miles north in Nacogdoches. Angelina College is 10 miles north in Lufkin.
