Greetings,
The purpose of this letter is to inform you about practices HISD will
implement in response to Senate Bill 8 (Regulation CSA) that was passed by
the Texas Legislature during the 89th legislative session. Regulation CSA is a requirement that expects the district to notify the public in regard to the use of Private Spaces (particularly the restrooms, locker rooms).
Typically, HISD utilizes private spaces for either male or female. There will be rare occasions where the private space will be designated as "non-private"
with signage. This may occur after the location has been cleared and a male coach needs to confer with his female athletes prior to a game and during
halftime, or vice versa. Or, this may occur when a female trainer needs to
attend to an injured male athlete. In all cases the locker room/bathroom would be cleared prior to entering the "non-private" status.
Again, the purpose of this notification is to satisfy the requirements of S.B. 8 and Regulation CSA. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
