Federal Report Cards

The Federal Report Card required under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) is a public report that provides families and communities with clear, transparent information about how schools and districts are performing.

Each year, the Texas Education Agency  states and districts publish a Federal Report Card that includes:

  • Student achievement on state assessments

  • Academic growth and graduation rates

  • English learner progress

  • School quality or student success indicators

  • Per-pupil expenditures

  • Educator qualifications

  • Disaggregated data by student groups (e.g., race/ethnicity, income, disability status)

The purpose of the report card is to ensure accountability and transparency by showing how well schools are serving all students and where support or improvement may be needed. States must make these report cards easily accessible to the public and submit them to the U.S. Department of Education.
