Huntington ISD

A District of Innovation (DOI) plan is a locally created plan that allows a school district to receive flexibility from certain state requirements so it can better serve students and the community. The plan is authorized under Texas Education Code §12A and Chapter 12A of the Texas Education Code, which were added by Senate Bill 213 in 2015. These provisions allow districts to innovate in areas such as scheduling, staffing, and instructional programs while still remaining accountable for student outcomes.

At Huntington ISD, the DOI plan supports the district’s vision of a “Relentless Pursuit to Get Better” by promoting student learning, expanding opportunities, attracting and supporting quality educators, and encouraging innovative practices that meet local needs.
