Family Career Community Leaders of America

FCCLA is a National Organization. Students who participate in this organization learn leadership skills, are involved in making their community a better place to live, and students also are made aware of more career choices.

Huntington Middle School has approximately 25 - 30 members each year. Membership requires a $10.00 fee to be paid annually, this gives them a National Affiliation and they each get a Teen Magazine that tells them what is going on with their organization within the U. S.

The activities that students participate in are such things as the Angelina County Youth Fair, Red Ribbon Week, and a dance each February.

STACK

STACK (Supporting Terrific Angelina County Kids) promotes healthy and drug-free lifestyles. All STACK members sign a pledge to be drug-free and encourage their friends to say no to drugs. Meetings are held the 2nd Wednesday of each month before school in Mrs. Choate's room.

STACK members decorate and participate in the Red Ribbon Parade, which is held in Lufkin each year in October. Members also help in sending gift baskets to the Women's Shelter for Christmas.

A STACK Fun Night is held at the First United Methodist Church Family Life Center in December. Area STACK Club members enjoy a night of skating, playing games and meeting new people. Members also participate in a Skate Night held in the spring. Both of these events are sponsored by ADAC (Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council).

Students may sign up to join the STACK Club at the beginning of each school year. Members are encouraged to join the KYSSED Club in high school
