| The Huntington ISD wide-area-network (WAN) consists
of over 800 PC's in classrooms and offices. Computers are connected
to 10 servers. T1 lines are used for connectivity between buildings
and to the Internet.

A student/computer ratio of 2.5/1 allows computer access for all students.
Computers are used for classroom curriculum integration with software
such as Advanced Learning System (ALS), Accelerated Reader, Coin Career
Search and all Microsoft Office applications. The Open Door program,
which emphasizes early literacy is implemented in the elementary school.
Sleek software, for TAAS and TAKS remediation and preparation, is used
in the elementary and intermediate schools.

| A+ Certification
Class |

High school classes offer students an opportunity for A+ certification.
These students assist in first level repair and maintenance of computers
at the high school. The PC Academy at Huntington Huntington High School
encompasses a three course program of Basic Electronics, A+, and Networking
Essentials. This sequence of courses begins to prepare students to become
certified by CompTIA in A+ and Network+. Students in this program attended
the Texas TechPrep Conference in Houston, Texas, where they presented
two workshops about the program.

Jeff Baird, Director of Technology, is responsible for maintaining
all computer equipment for Huntington ISD.
Keith LaBrozzi, Computer Technician, assists in computer repair, software
installation and other aspects of computer maintenance. |
