The Huntington Independent School District (ISD) is a small 3-A rural district nestled within 226 square miles of Angelina County that provides educational facilities and resources to meet the needs of more than 1662 students on five campuses.
  • Huntington High School and Pride Alternative School have 514 students in grades nine through twelve.
  • Huntington Middle School has 380 students in grades six through eight.
  • Huntington Intermediate School has 260 students in grades four through five.
  • Huntington Elementary School has 508 students in grades pre-kindergarten through three.
Huntington ISD's location places it near several institutions of higher learning in the state:
  • Stephen F. Austin State University is located 30 miles north in Nacogdoches.
  • Angelina College is 10 miles north in Lufkin.
 
 

 

The City of Huntington is located ten miles south of Lufkin on U.S. Highway 69. Huntington, located in deep East Texas, provides easy access to the major metropolitan areas of the state:
  • Houston is 135 miles south.
  • Dallas is 185 miles northwest.
  • Austin is located 225 miles southwest.
The city was created in 1900 as a hub for farming activities in Angelina County. There is a variety of recreational facilities located nearby:
  • Lake Sam Rayburn is 10 minutes away.
  • Toledo Bend and Lake Livingston are 45 minutes from Huntington.
  • The Alabama-Coushatta Indian Reservation is located 40 miles away.
  • Numerous national park facilities are located within a short distance.
